This year we’re building a new home for George & Willy. It has always been important for us to create a studio space that encourages productivity as well as creativity. It comes down to wanting to love where we work, so we turn up each day and don’t want to be anywhere else. We thought we’d share some photos of the original space, as well as give you insight into the final design.

The original building was looking fairly tired. One of the first things we did was paint our company name on the outside, just to give it a bit of character & make it feel like home.

We have always been big fans of simple timber cladding which has weathered and greyed off. We drew inspiration from coastal sheds & decided on a timber rain screen for the cladding, as opposed to shiplap, so the timber will have 10mm gaps between the boards. The building is two storeys high, with the George & Willy Studio set to be upstairs.

Since the tools were switched on earlier in the year, good progress has been made. The exterior, including the cedar screening from @rosenfeldkidson, is almost complete & in a few short months we’ll be able to say the same about the interior. @progressive_building_solutions doing a serious job.

We’re looking forward to sharing more as we go. In the meantime, you can stay up to date with the build via our instagram stories.
